What is SCUML?<\/strong> Special Control Unit on Money Laundering (SCUML) is collaborating with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). SCUML is charged with the responsibility of monitoring, supervising and regulating the activities of Designated Non Financial Institutions (DNFIs) in line with the provisions of the Money Laundering (Prohibition)\u00a0Act (TPA) 2011 (as\u00a0amended) as well as the SCUML Regulations\u00a02013 and 2016.<\/p>\n

The Designated Non Financial Institutions\u00a0(DNFIs) are required under the above stated\u00a0laws and Regulations to carry out the following\u00a0statutory obligations.:<\/p>\n

Your role:<\/p>\n

\u2022 To register with SCUML<\/h3>\n

\uf0b7 To make Currency Transactions Reports (CTRs ) to SCUML of any single transaction, lodgment or
\ntransfer of funds in excess of N5,000,000 or its equivalent in the case of an individual or N10,000,000
\nin the of body corporate within 7 days from the date of transaction via
\nSCUML online reporting platform on the SCUML Website: www.scuml.org<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 To make Cash Based Transactions Reports (CBTRs) to SCUML on any single transaction in excess of $1,000
\nor its equivalent within 7 days from the date of transaction via SCUML online reporting platform on the
\nSCUML Website: www.scuml.org \uf0b7 To make Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the Nigeria Financial
\nIntelligence Unit (NFIU) via (www.nfiu.gov.ng) (see SCUML Regulations 2013 for more details).<\/p>\n

Designated Non-Financial Institutions that are suppose to register with SCUML are businesses below:

\n\uf0b7 Dealers in luxury goods,
\n\uf0b7 Importers and dealers in cars or any other automobile
\n\uf0b7 Hotels and other Hospitality businesses
\n\uf0b7 Supermarkets
\n\uf0b7 Casinos, Pools Betting & other Lottery Businesses
\n\uf0b7 Audit firms
\n\uf0b7 Tax Consultants
\n\uf0b7 Law firms, Notaries and other independent Legal Practitioners
\n\uf0b7 Accountants and Accounting firms
\n\uf0b7 Consultants and Consulting Companies
\n\uf0b7 Clearing and Settlements Companies
\n\uf0b7 Trust & Company Service Providers
\n\uf0b7 Estate surveyors and Valuers
\n\uf0b7 Dealers in Real Estate, Estate Developers, Estate Agents and Brokers
\n\uf0b7 Dealers in Precious Stones and Metals
\n\uf0b7 Dealers in Mechanized farming equipment and machineries
\n\uf0b7 Construction Companies
\n\uf0b7 Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) \u2013 Non- Profit Organizations (NPOs))
\n\uf0b7 Mortgage Brokers
\n\uf0b7 Practitioners of Mechanized Farming\u00a0and such other Businesses and\u00a0Professions as the Federal Ministry of\u00a0Industry, Trade & Investment or\u00a0appropriate regulatory authorities may\u00a0from time to time designate<\/p>\n
