{"id":8708,"date":"2023-06-05T14:09:50","date_gmt":"2023-06-05T14:09:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/?p=8708"},"modified":"2024-10-30T06:46:19","modified_gmt":"2024-10-30T06:46:19","slug":"national-assembly-of-sudan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/national-assembly-of-sudan\/","title":{"rendered":"NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF SUDAN"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>This post discusses the national assembly which is also the lower house of Sudan , it also list out the speakers of the assembly.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The\u00a0National Assemblyis the lower house of the\u00a0National Legislature\u00a0of<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/political-history-of-sudan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8691\">\u00a0Sudan<\/a>.<\/span> The Legislature was unicameral until 2005. The upper house is the\u00a0Council of States.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The National Assembly was dissolved on 11 April 2019 following a\u00a0military coup\u00a0which overthrew <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/regions-of-sudan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8697\">Sudan<\/a><\/span> President Omar al-Bashir and Assembly&#8217;s ruling National Congress Party.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As part of the\u00a02019 Sudanese transition to democracy, a\u00a0Transitional Legislative Council\u00a0is to be formed which will function as the legislature of Sudan until elections scheduled for 2022.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>2015-2019 SESSION<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/political-history-of-sudan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"8691\">Sudan<\/a>\u00a0was previously in a transitional period following the signing of a\u00a0Comprehensive Peace Agreement\u00a0(CPA) on 9 January 2005 that officially ended the\u00a0civil war\u00a0between the Sudanese Government (based in\u00a0Khartoum) and the southern-based\u00a0Sudan People&#8217;s Liberation Movement\u00a0(SPLM) rebel group. The National Assembly consisted of 450 appointed members who represent the government, former rebels, and other opposition political parties. The National Assembly, whose members were appointed in mid-2005, replaced the latest elected parliament. All members of the National Legislature serve six-year terms. Article 117 of the Interim Constitution called for the 450 members of the National Assembly to be appointed according to the following power-sharing formula.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8709\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/National-Assembly-of-Sudan.jpg\" alt=\"National Assembly of Sudan\" width=\"832\" height=\"536\" \/>\r\n<figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">National Assembly of Sudan<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>PARLIAMENT BUILDING<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The seat of the National Assembly is\u00a0Omdurman, immediately north-west of the country&#8217;s capital\u00a0Khartoum.
