Here in this post we discussed the cultural heritage and it further list and explain the heritage sites that are found in Zambia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Zambia\u2019s contemporary culture is a blend of values, norms, material and spiritual traditions of more than 70 ethnically diverse people. Most of the tribes of Zambia moved into the area in a series of migratory waves a few centuries ago. They grew in number and many travelled in search of establishing new kingdoms, farming land and pastures.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Before the colonial period, the region now known as Zambia was the home of a number of free states. Each having comprehensive economic links with each other and the outside world along trade routes to the east and west coast of Africa. The main exports were copper, ivory and enslaved people in exchange for textiles, jewelry, salt and hardware.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

HERITAGE SITES IN ZAMBIA<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

These are the heritages sites in Zambia:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

DAG HAMMERSKJOLD MEMORIAL<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

It symbolizes the location whereby the aircraft transporting Dag Hammerskjold, a previous UN Secretary General got an accident during September 1961 around Ndola Forest Reserve. To be able to remember the death, a small cairn was built within the centre of a plain memorial garden and then a site museum was constructed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

FORT MONZE<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This particular fort was basically just one of the very first colonial police posts found all over the country. There is a graveyard of those policemen who were in charge of the fort, located on the western side of Monze.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KASAMBA STREAM GRINDING GROOVES<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Over the western shore of Lake Bangweulu, to the south of Samfya, happens to be an rock extension that bears a good deal of man-made milling and grinding grooves as old as Iron Age. Probably they had been used in milling as well as polishing axes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KUNDABWIKA ROCK Painting<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The giant rock carries a detailed patterned art paintings in red shade, is 96 kms out of Mporokoso in the Northern Province.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

LUNSEMFA WONDER GORGE<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Along the junction of the rivers Lunsemfwa and Mkushi can be found place of great magnificence. The rivers did dig narrow gorges about 300m into the Karoo sedimentary rocks and even brings about probably the most magnificent sights ever found in Zambia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MKOMO ROCK SHELTER<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This place boasts rock paintings too from the early Iron age. It is actually located along the Great East highway in the township of Chipata.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MUMWE STREAM ROCK<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Each of these engravings located in Mwense area are believed to be of great historical significance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

NIAMKOLO CHURCH<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This church appeared to be built because of the London Missionary Society during 1895 and happens to be the earliest stone remaining church around Zambia. It was in fact built over the banks of Lake Tanganyika, on the east side of Mpulungu town.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

NKALA FORTIFIED CAMP<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This specific camp was in fact erected as a police camp during 1901, over the top of Kapilika Nakalomwe hill beyond the boundaries of Kafue National Park. The sketch plan of the fort can be visible on the damaged walls.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

NACHIKUFU CAVE<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This particular cave found in Mpika has examples of the most fascinating rock art and painting iin the country. It is the site of the local museum demonstrating an intriguing pattern of life right from Stone age era until the present day Iron Age, many years now.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

NSEFU CAVE AND ROCK Painting<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

All these paintings located in Kanona can be seen clearly at the fence and any person intending to tour the cave can go for it with payment of some charge to the caretaker. The major cave has proof of being habited throughout the Stone Age.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

NSALU CAVE & ROCK Painting<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The cave is situated just off Great North Road, 30km drive to the north of Kanona from Serenje district. The patterned prints date back close to 12,000 years and extend 20m wide, 8m high as well as 20m deep at Nsalu hill. Research shows that these caves had been at first home to middle Stone Age folks who later passed it on to the late Stone Age occupants, as by the items picked there in 1949.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
