This list includes not only those persons who were sworn into office as President of the Central African Republic but also those who served as de facto heads of state.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Read: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aziza.com.ng\/read\/political-history-of-the-central-african-republic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"9230\">POLITICAL HISTORY OF THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC<\/a><\/span><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Jean-B\u00e9del Bokassa served as a de facto head of state (and also reigned as Emperor from 1976 to 1979), while David Dacko (who served as de facto head of state from 1979 to 1981), Andr\u00e9 Kolingba, Ange-F\u00e9lix Patass\u00e9, and Fran\u00e7ois Boziz\u00e9 were elected into office at some point during their tenure. To date, Kolingba is the only former head of state of the Central African Republic to voluntarily step down from the office through a democratic process, following the 1993 general election.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The current President of the Central African Republic is Faustin-Archange Touad\u00e9ra, since 30 March 2016.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>TERM LIMITS<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As of 2021, there is a two-term limit for the president in the Constitution of the Central African Republic.
