National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
NAFDAC is a governmental body under the Federal Ministry of Health of Nigeria. Its head office is in Abuja and the operation office is in Lagos. NAFDAC is in charge of supporting the wellbeing of the societies through monitoring, regulating production, distribution, and import/export of various products like food, medicines, cosmetics, pesticides, bottled water etc.
NAFDAC was created in 1993. Decree №15 of 1993 officially established NAFDAC. This declaration was later edited by Decree №19 of 1999
National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control inspects the production of medicines, cosmetics, and other similar products to ensure quality. It grants permission for export/import of chemical substances and controls storage environments of these substances to make sure that dangerous chemicals are managed safely
NAFDAC gives permission for import / export of controlled substances through regulation and control, NAFDAC also ensure the best quality of chemicals for agricultural use.
NAFDAC also provides up-to-date data on risk/benefit profile of medical substances. The organization also takes part in developing public health programs.

– National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration Control has the power to carryout test on locally manufactured food, drugs and some other product that the citizen uses including imported goods into the country in order to ensure these products are good for consumption and of great quality standard.
– Every manufacturer producing goods in Nigeria has been given a standard within Nigeria or imported into the country and until these products are approved by the council, such food or drugs is not consumable.
– There must be total consent by the council for the effective quality control of these goods, such as food, and drugs, and cosmetics, and medical devices, and packaged water, and chemicals.

– The administration is charge with the responsibility of eliminating fake pharmaceuticals, foods and beverages products that are not manufactured in Nigeria.
– The organization create workshops to enlighten various stakeholders, like pure water producers, Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers Association (PPMDA), National Union of Road Transport Workers and National Association of Road Transport Owners (NURT).
